I recently successfully defended my dissertation project at Loyola University Chicago in the Department of Political Science and I am a lecturer in the department. My dissertation project focuses on one-party dominant states and if they can maintain the necessary institutional independence and level electoral playing field to be considered democratic. My currently plan for this research is to continue revising it into a book manuscript.

I teach courses in a wide variety of political science subfields. These courses include introductory and upper level courses in Comparative Politics, International Relations, and U.S. Politics. I have taught at Loyola University Chicago, Arrupe College (a community college affiliated with Loyola University Chicago), Lake Forest College, and Dominican University.
My research focus is as a comparative political scientist with a regional specialty in sub-Saharan Africa. I am particularly interested in questions concerning democracy and democratic consolidation in the region. My current projects include a focus on one-party dominance, an analysis of democratic consolidation in Lesotho, and a study on the impact of gender quotas on public opinion concerning democracy in the region.
